This blog entry is about a lecture I had the opportunity to attend at the end of last year.

The lecture was held in a hybrid format, but even online participants were strictly prohibited from taking screenshots or recording videos. The lecture began with a sense of both anticipation and tension. And as for the content, it truly exceeded my expectations.

During his seven years as manager of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Kimiyasu Kudo led the team to five Japan Series championships.

It is no surprise that someone with such achievements thinks differently.

The team’s owner, Masayoshi Son, told him, “Build a team that can win 10 consecutive championships.”

From there, Kudo began thinking about how to build a team capable of winning 10 consecutive championships. He changed his perspective on his own position, realizing that the manager should not be above the team, but at the center of it. He also reconsidered how he interacted with his players.

What impressed me most was this:

“Preparation Shapes the Future.”

Prepare so that everything falls within what you have anticipated.

When you are fully prepared, there is no hesitation.

When there is no hesitation, you know what you need to do.

“Things will somehow work out” will not make things work out.

Nothing comes from doing things “without a clear purpose.”

Thorough preparation shapes the future.

Think about what you need to do now to create a wonderful future for yourself.
